A culture of connection
The culture of OCI is definitely team-centric. Taking a collaborative approach to solving problems allows challenges at one of our properties to lead to a solution at another. When one of our team members hits it out of the park with a great idea, everyone learns from it and can implement that idea at their respective properties. Together, we are smart enough and strong enough to overcome all challenges. Internally, we call it #OCIStrong.
One of the things partners like most about OCI is that we're approachable. One reason why is that we're intentionally streamlined with a very involved executive team. This allows for quick response times when faced with the challenges of the industry. At OCI, our culture emphasizes connections, and were are more than just a team. We are a family -- rooted in tradition and connected by hospitality.
A brief history of OCI
1980: Kent and Debra Oliver found Oliver Management Services, Inc. in Duluth, MN, growing it into a major force in the commercial and hospitality real estate market in the Upper Midwest.
2003: Seth Oliver consolidates the Oliver hospitality business from his father and partners into Oliver Companies, Inc.
2006: Oliver Companies continues to grow, completing major hotel construction projects for the likes of Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, and others. The company also manages multiple properties for these and similar blue-chip partners as well as owning and operating hospitality properties of its own.
2015: Seth Oliver founds a dedicated construction division, Kaizen Companies, within Oliver Companies.
2017: Kaizen Companies revenues grow increasingly fast and is spun out as its own company.
2021: To better concentrate on its core business, OCI Hospitality is born. The new corporate entity specializes exclusively in hospitality real estate management for a growing roster of blue-chip hospitality brands.
